APPROVING THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION PILOT PROGRAM POLICIES, AS SPECIFIED IN
EXHIBIT "A", ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED AND AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ("CDBG") FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $185,698
FROM THE DISTRICT 2 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT RESERVE ACCOUNT, AS SPECIFIED IN
EXHIBIT "B"; ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED TO THE COCONUT GROVE HISTORIC
PRESERVATION PILOT PROGRAM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR SAID PURPOSE..

Background Information:
The City currently has numerous properties of Historic significance that are currently in disrepair and
in need of rehabilitation.
The rehabilitation of such Historic properties to meet the national objective of job creation or
assistance to low-income families will be beneficial to the community.
The Department of Community and Economic Program in consultation with the Historic Preservation
Officer, has created a program using CDBG funds for the rehabilitation of eligible properties
throughout the City.
A summary of the Historic Preservation Program is attached andincorporated as Exhibit "A".
An allocation of CDBG funds in the amount of $185,698 from the District 2 Economic Development
Reserve Account, as specified in Exhibit "B", attached and incorporated, has specifically been made
to the Coconut Grove area as a pilot of the Historic Preservation Program.
The Administration recommends approving the Coconut Grove Historic Preservation Program
Policies, as specified in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated.
The Administration further recommends approving the allocation of CDBG funds in the amount of
$185,698 from the District 2 Economic Development Reserve Account, as specified in Exhibit "B"
attached and incorporated, to the Coconut Grove Historic Preservation Pilot Program.
