HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-01200 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), APPROVING THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION PILOT PROGRAM POLICIES, AS SPECIFIED IN EXHIBIT "A", ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED; AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $185,698 FROM THE DISTRICT 2 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT RESERVE ACCOUNT, AS SPECIFIED IN EXHIBIT "B", ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, AND THE ALLOCATION OF SAID FUNDS TO THE COCONUT GROVE HISTORIC PRESERVATION PILOT PROGRAM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") currently has numerous properties of historic significance that are currently in disrepair and in need of rehabilitation; and WHEREAS, the rehabilitation of such historic properties to meet the national objective of job creation or assistance to low-income families will be beneficial to the community; and WHEREAS, the Department of Community and Economic Program in consultation with the City's Historic Preservation Officer, has created a program using Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds for the rehabilitation of eligible properties throughout the City; and WHEREAS, a summary of the Historic Preservation Program is attached and incorporated as Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, an allocation of CDBG funds in the amount of $185,698 from the District 2 Economic Development Reserve Account, as specified in Exhibit "B", attached and incorporated, has specifically been made to the Coconut Grove area as a pilot program of the Historic Preservation Program; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends approving the Coconut Grove Historic Preservation Program Policies, as specified in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated; and WHEREAS, the City Administration further recommends approving the allocation of CDBG funds in the amount of $185,698 from the District 2 Economic Development Reserve Account, as specified in Exhibit "B", attached and incorporated, to the Coconut Grove Historic Preservation Pilot Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. The Coconut Grove Historic Preservation Pilot Program Policies, as specified in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated, are approved. Section 3. The.transfer of CDBG funds, in the amount of $185,698 from the District 2 Economic Development Reserve Account, as specified in Exhibit "B", attached and incorporated, and the allocation of said funds to the Coconut Grove Historic Preservation Pilot Program, is approved. Section 4. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS JULIE O. BRU CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
