Subject: Accepting a grant award from the Florida Boating Improvement Program (FBIP) through the
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in the amount of $46,000 and a cash match by the
City of $20,000 available from Capital Improvement Program Project 40B-30706. The program
supports City wide derelict vessel removal, expiring October 31, 2013.
Purpose of Item:
A Resolution of the Miami City Commission, with attachment(s), authorizing the City Manager to
accept a grant award from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission/Florida Boating
Improvement Program ("FBIP") in an amount not to exceed $46,000 and a cash match by the City of
$20,000 available from Capital Improvement Program Project 40B-30706; further authorizing the
City Manager to execute said Agreement, in substantially the attached form, and any other necessary
documents between the City of Miami ("City") and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission, subject to the terms and conditions of said grant, for the purpose of removing
approximately twenty-four (24) identified City derelict and abandoned vessels in publicly owned City
waterways.

Subject: Accepting a grant award from the Florida Boating Improvement Program (FBIP) through the
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in the amount of $46,000 and a cash match by the
City of $20,000 available from Capital Improvement Program Project 40B-30706. The program
supports City wide derelict vessel removal, expiring October 31, 2013.
Background Information:
The Department is seeking City Commission approval to accept an award to support the removal of
derelict and abandoned vessels in City public waterways that pose an immediate threat to the
environment, public health and safety, or navigation. The Department of Public Facilities has applied
for and was awarded a grant from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. The Miami Police
Department's Marine Patrol Division has identified approximately twenty-four (24) abandoned and
derelict vessels for removal.
