HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-12-0427City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-12-0427 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-01279 Final Action Date: 10/25/2012 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), URGING THE ATTORNEY GENERAL TO ABIDE BY THE TERMS OF THE SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT IN THE ATTACHED LETTER DATED AUGUST 10, 2012, WHICH TERMS ALLOCATE CERTAIN FUNDS PROVIDED TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO BE USED FOR SUPPLEMENTING THE AMOUNTS PAID TO HOMEOWNERS UNDER THE BORROWER PAYMENT FUND, FUNDING FOR HOUSING COUNSELORS, STATE AND LOCAL FORECLOSURE MEDIATION PROGRAMS, LEGAL ASSISTANCE, HOUSING REMEDIATION AND ANTI -BLIGHT PROJECTS, FUNDING FOR TRAINING AND STAFFING OF FINANCIAL FRAUD OR CONSUMER PROTECTION ENFORCEMENT EFFORTS, AND CIVIL PENALTIES; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT THIS RESOLUTION TO THE APPROPRIATE STATE OFFICIALS STATED HEREIN. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Miami City Commission urges Attorney General Pam Bondi to abide by the terms of the Settlement Agreement in the attached letter dated August 10, 2012, which terms allocate certain funds provided to the State of Florida to be used for supplementing the amounts paid to homeowners under the Borrower Payment Fund, funding for housing counselors, state and local foreclosure mediation programs, legal assistance, housing remediation and anti -blight projects, funding for training and staffing of financial fraud or consumer protection enforcement efforts, and civil penalties. Section 2. The City Clerk is directed to transmit this Resolution to Attorney General Pam Bondi and the members of the Florida Legislature. Section 3.
