A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY STEPS TO ASSIST MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY, IN CONVERTING NORTHWEST 34TH STREET FROM NORTHWEST
1ST AVENUE TO NORTH MIAMI AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, FROMAONE-WAY,
EASTBOUND -ONLY STREET TO A TWO-WAY STREET; AUTHORIZING AND
DIRECTING. THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO TAKE ALL STEPS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE SUCH CHANGE, AS STATED HEREIN.
• WHEREAS, a conversion of Northwest 34th Street between Northwest 1st Avenue and North
Miami Avenue, Miami, Florida, from a one-way street to a two-way street has been requested by area
businesses to improve access to their properties; and
WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County ("County") retains jurisdiction over traffic control on all streets in
the County, both in incorporated and unincorporated areas; and
WHEREAS, the County's Department of Public Works and Waste Management has determined
that converting Northwest 34 Street as described herein into a two-way street will improve traffic
circulation for both area residents and businesses; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission joins the businesses in the area in requesting the change from
one-way to two-way for the described street;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings do.ntained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} and directed to take all necessary steps to assist the
County in converting Northwest 34th Street from Northwest 1st Avenue to North Miami Avenue, Miami,
Florida, from a one-way, eastbound -only street to a two-way street.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City.
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten
calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it
shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
