HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-12-0413City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-12-0413 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-00911 Final Action Date: 10/25/2012 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY"), THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, AND MACTOWN INCORPORATION, FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONTINUING THE NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED PROJECT SEARCH PROGRAM AT THE CITY, WITH THE PROGRAM DESIGNED TO PROVIDE MARKETABLE JOB TRAINING AND SOCIAL SKILLS FOR YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES, TO ACHIEVE THE GOAL OF SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYMENT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, AMENDMENTS, EXTENSIONS, AND MODIFICATIONS AFTER CONSULTATION WITH THE CITY ATTORNEY, THERETO IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE ATTACHED FORM OF THE COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT, FOR A PERIOD OF THREE (3) YEARS COMMENCING AUGUST 20, 2012 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2015. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City"), through the Department of Parks and Recreation, will continue to implement the nationally acclaimed "Project SEARCH" program that teaches marketable job training and social skills for youth with disabilities at several City worksite locations; and WHEREAS, the program is implemented with a unique public -private collaboration between the City, the School Board of Miami -Dade County, and MacTown Incorporation; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Parks and Recreation are requesting for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a Cooperative Agreement, in substantially the attached form, setting forth, the in -kind contributions of each agency for the successful implementation of the program for a period of three years commencing August 20, 2012 through June 30, 2015; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute a Cooperative Agreement, in substantially the attached form, between the City, the School Board of Miami -Dade County, and MacTown Incorporation, for the purpose of continuing the nationally acclaimed Project SEARCH program at the City, with the program designed to provide marketable job training and social skills for youth with disabilities, to achieve the goal of sustainable employment. Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents, amendments, extensions, and modifications after consultation with the City Attorney, thereto in City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 12-00911 (Version: 2) Printed On: 12/12/2017 File Number: 12-00911 Enactment Number: R-12-0413 compliance with the attached form of the Agreement, for a period of three (3)years commencing August 20, 2012 through June 30, 2015. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subjected to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} if the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City of Miami Commission.
