HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-12-0390City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-12-0390 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-01094 Final Action Date: 10/11/2012 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,854, TO THE BLACK HOSPITALITY INITIATIVE OF GREATER MIAMI, FOR PROMOTION OF TOURISM IN DISTRICT 5; ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS FROM POVERTY INITIATIVES PROGRAM, ACCOUNT NO. 14010.910101.882000; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH SAID AGENCY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 12-0290, adopted July 26, 2012, the Miami City Commission approved the allocation of funds, totaling $190,500, in the amounts and to the agencies as specified in Attachment "A", attached and incorporated to said resolution, including a reserve in the amount of $33,597, for public services activities from the Poverty Initiatives Program; and WHEREAS, the Black Hospitality Initiative of Greater Miami ("BHI") is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization established in 1991 by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau to advance economic participation and open doors of opportunity for African Americans in the Greater Miami Visitor industry; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the allocation of funds, from the Poverty Initiative Program, in the amount of $21,854, to BHI, for promotion of tourism in District 5; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The allocation of funds, in the amount of $21,854 to BHI, from the Poverty Initiatives Program for the promotion of tourism in District 5, is authorized, with funds allocated from the Poverty Initiatives Program, Account No. 14010.910101.882000. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute an Agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with said agency, for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 12-01094 (Version: 11 Printed On: 12/11/2017 File Number: 12-01094 Enactment Number: R-12-0390 {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
