HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-01008 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZINGTHE ALLOCATION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ("CDBG") REPAYMENT FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,244,509.08 TO THE SINGLE FAMILY REHABILITATION AND REPLACEMENT HOME PROGRAMS AND HOUSING ACTIVITIES, AS SPECIFIED IN EXHIBIT "A", ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 09-0278, adopted June 11, 2009, the Miami City Commission approved a repayment plan to the United States Department of Housing Development ("HUD") which included an amount of $1,244,509.08 in Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds; and WHEREAS, HUD has credited the City of Miami's ("City") CDBG line of credit with $1,244,509.08 of CDBG funds paid to HUD; and WHEREAS, the Department of Community Development has established two Code Compliance Programs in the City to assist in revitalizing low and moderate income neighborhoods of the City; and WHEREAS, the Single Family Rehabilitation Program provides eligible low and moderate income homeowners with up to $35,000 to repair and bring their properties to code; and WHEREAS, the Single Family Replacement Home Program provides assistance to eligible low and moderate income homeowners to demolish their dilapidated homes and rebuild three bedroom, two bath homes with approximately 1,300 square feet on their existing lot; and WHEREAS, the Single Family Rehabilitation and Replacement Home programs currently have 60 and 4 homeowners respectively on the waiting list; and WHEREAS, the Administration is requesting the allocation of CDBG Repayment funds in the amount of $1,244,509.08, to the Single Family Rehabilitation and Replacement Home Programs and. Housing Activities, as specified in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The allocation of CDBG Repayment funds in the amount of $1,244,509.08, to the City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 12-01008 (Version: 1) Printed On: 9/25/2012 File Number: 12-01008 Single Family Rehabilitation and Replacement Home Programs and Housing Activities, as specified in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESSC/ JULIE 0. BRU CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
