HomeMy WebLinkAboutSubmittal-Non Agenda Item InformationI would like the Commission to pass a resolution mirroring the County's resolution where the City would pay for return reply mailings of absentee ballots in those cases where the City is holding a City election and there is not a corresponding County election. Cost for this activity would be approximately $16,000. This small contribution would go a long way In deterring absentee ballot fraud. Pocket item Commissioner Gort would like to place a pocket item in the September 27th Agenda mirroring the County's action to assist in deterring absentee ballot fraud by providing prepaid postage for the ballots for City Elections when they don't align with County's. The Elections Department is still working on my request for the cost of business reply mail envelopes sent with absentee ballots. In the meantime they let me know that the average cost per ballot for the return postage would be $.60 so I went back to 2007 to look at how many absentee ballots were received. The 60 cent charge would only occur if the ballot is returned and processed by the Post Office.
