HomeMy WebLinkAboutSubmittal-Non Agenda Item InformationI would like the Commission to pass a resolution mirroring the
County's resolution where the City would pay for return reply
mailings of absentee ballots in those cases where the City is
holding a City election and there is not a corresponding County
election. Cost for this activity would be approximately
$16,000. This small contribution would go a long way In
deterring absentee ballot fraud.

Subject: Status of cost for absentee ballots with return reply mail envelops.
The Elections Department is still working on my request for the cost of business reply mail envelopes
sent with absentee ballots.
In the meantime they let me know that the average cost per ballot for the return postage would be $.60
so I went back to 2007 to look at how many absentee ballots were received. The 60 cent charge would
only occur if the ballot is returned and processed by the Post Office.

What the County is providing me is the number of ballots sent to voters, which would also provide us
with an estimated cost if 100% of the ballots were returned, but this can give an idea of a ballpark
number.
I'll let you know as soon as I hear from the County
