Background Information: The grant award will allow the City of Miami Police Department to review, prioritize, examine and evaluate homicide cold cases to identify physical evidence with the potential to yield DNA that can be submitted for testing. The grant funding will be utilized to cover overtime personnel, travel and operating costs associated with the Solving Cold Cases with DNA program. The grant funding period is from October 1, 2012, through March 31, 2014. This award does not require any local match; however, $774.00 in non-federal funds will be required to offset the difference between the $500,774 approved program budget and the $500,000 provided through federal funding.
