Subject: Authorizing an extension for TVM Productions, Inc. for use of the Coconut Grove Exposition
Center for the filming of the television show "Burn Notice".
Purpose of item:
A Resolution of the Miami City Commission, with attachment(s), authorizing the City Manager to
execute Amendment Number 7 to the use agreement with TVM Productions, Inc. ("TVM"), in
substantially the attached form, allowing TVM to continue filming the television show "Burn Notice"
at the Coconut Grove Exposition Center through October 31, 2013, for an annual rent of $450,000 and
other terms as stated therein.
Background Information:
On August 31, 2007 the City of Miami and TVM Productions, Inc. entered into a Use Agreement Contract
(the "Agreement") for the use of the Coconut Grove Exposition Center for the purpose of television and
commercial filming, and activities related thereto. Amendment No. 6 to the Use Agreement extended the
Use Period to October 31, 2012. The continued success of the series has prompted the User to request an
additional twelve (12) months for filming, necessitating the extension of the Use period and requiring a
new expiration date of October 31, 2013. The basic Use Fee shall be $37,500 monthly, of which $27,500
collected on a monthly basis shall be allocated for use to partially support the Coconut Grove Master Plan
for waterfront improvements, with $10,000 of the Use Fee collected on an monthly basis allocated for use
by the City of Miami Police Department to be spent on marked vehicles, tasers, uniforms and other assets
the Chief of Police deems necessary and proper. TVM shall be fully responsible for all utilities associated
with the building, including the North Hall, for items such as regular lawn service, tree trimming, pest
control, fire alarm maintenance and monitoring, fire extinguisher servicing, and other building expenses as
required by the City.
