Subject: Second reading to amend Chapter 22, Section 22-15 of the City of Miami Code; increasing the
number of awards issued to employees of the Solid Waste Department and to the children and/or legal
dependents of said employee from ten to fifteen.
Purpose of Item:
It is respectfully recommended that the attached Ordinance amending Chapter 22 of the City of Miami
Code be adopted for second reading; it was approved for first reading on 7/12/12. The amendments
will increase the number of awards paid annually to the employees of the Solid Waste Department
and to the children/and or legal dependents of said employees. The awards are issued by the Solid
Waste Department from the Educational Trust Fund established from the recycling program.
Background Information:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AMENDING CHAPTER 22 OF THE CODE OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI CODE, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED "GARBAGE AND OTHER SOLID
WASTE," MORE PARTICULARLY BY AMENDING SECTION 22-15, ENTITLED" EDUCATIONAL
TRUST FUND ESTABLISHED FROM THE RECYCLING PROGRAM FOR SCHOLARSHIPS TO
CHILDREN OF CERTAIN CITY EMPLOYEES; CONDITIONS FOR IMPLEMENTATION' TO
INCREASE THE NUMBER OF AWARDS PAID ANNUALLY TO THE EMPLOYEES OF THE SOLID
WASTE DEPARTMENT AND TO THE CHILDREN AND/OR LEGAL DEPENDANTS OF SAID
EMPLOYEES OF THE DEPARTMENT; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND PROVIDING
FOR AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE.
