Purpose of Item:
A Resolution of the Miami City Commission, with attachments, authorizing the City Manager to execute a
thirty (30) year Lease Agreement and Addendum to Lease Agreement (collectively "Agreement"), in
substantially the attached form, with the State of Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT"), for the use
of FDOT Parcel No. RWMS 3991 located on the south side of the MacArthur Causeway Ramp between
Biscayne Bay and Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida("Property"), for public purposes consistent with the
Museum Park Master Plan, with all terms and conditions as more particularly set forth in said Agreement.
Background Information:
The City of Miami ("City") has negotiated a thirty (30) year Lease Agreement and Addendum to Lease
Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") and has requested authorization and
approval from FDOT to allow for landscaping, directional signage and access by the public to the public bay
walk on the property located on the south side of the MacArthur Causeway Ramp between Biscayne Bay and
Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida ("Property"). The City plans to allow the Miami Art Museum to use the
Property to install a sculpture garden and project art video onto the facade of the art museum building from
the Property. FDOT has stipulated that any changes or additions to the improvements will require additional
prior approval in writing by the District Secretary for District Six. In the event FDOT requires the Property for
permanent transportation purposes, the City will vacate the Property and the Agreement will terminate.
