A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "2012
MIAMI-METRO HOMELESS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM -SOUTH" AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $138,789,
CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF
HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, THROUGH THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
HOMELESS TRUST FOR A TWELVE-MONTH PERIOD,TO PROVIDE OUTREACH,
INFORMATION, REFERRAL, ASSESSMENT AND PLACEMENT SERVICES TO
HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY; ALLOCATING THE CITY OF
MIAMI'S ("CITY") REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $33,045, FROM THE CITY'S 2012 MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
GRANT ACCOUNT NO. 14800.910501.513000.0000.000000; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN
SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE
ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, in April, 2012, the Miami Homeless Assistance Program ("Program") successfully
secured a grant award in the amount of $138,789, from the United States Department of Housing and
Urban Development, through the Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust ("Grantee"), for a twelve-month
period, to provide outreach, assessment and placement of homeless individuals and families in
Miami -Dade County; and
WHEREAS, said grant award decreases the need for homeless individuals to travel to the City of
Miami ("City") for services by providing funding for programs to attend the needs of individuals where
they are located; and
WHEREAS, the City's required matching funds in the amount of $33,045, has been identified from
the "2012 Memorandum of Agreement Grant" Account No. 14800.910501.513000.0000.000000; and
WHEREAS, the amount of $3,305 from the City's matching funds, will be retained by the Grantee
for administrative costs, thereby making the total grant award the amount of $168,529; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the for the City Manager to accept said grant award and to
establish a new special revenue project for the appropriation of said grant award;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.

APPROPRIATIONS: City of Miami Homeless Assistance program for outreach, $168,529
information, referral, assessment and placement services to
homeless individuals
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the agreement, in substantially the
attached form, in order to implement the acceptance of said grant award.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
