HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-12-0263City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-12-0263 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-00781 Final Action Date: 7/26/2012 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED:" FISCAL YEAR 2012 EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM," CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, IN THE AMOUNT OF $351,115, TO PROVIDE FUNDING TO SUPPORT LAW ENFORCEMENT INITIATIVES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT AWARD. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $351,115, to support law enforcement initiatives; and WHEREAS, the City's Department of Police has been approved to use these grant funds to purchase twelve (12) fully equipped marked police vehicles to add to its fleet operations, as allowable under the Justice Assistance Grant ("JAG") Purpose Area of Law Enforcement Programs; and WHEREAS, this award does not require any local match; and WHEREAS, said grant is awarded for a period of four (4) years, beginning October 1, 2011, through September 30, 2015; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriate as described below: FUND TITLE: Fiscal Year 2012 Edward Byrne Memorial JAG Program RESOURCES: Department of Justice/Office of Justice Programs Bureau of $351,115 Justice Assistance APPROPRIATION: Improve Operations of the City's Department of Police $351,115 City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 12-00781 (Version: 11 Printed On: 11/27/2017 File Number: 12-00781 Enactment Number: R-12-0263 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1 } to execute the Grant Agreement, in substantially the attached form, and any other necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to implement the acceptance and administration of said grant. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
