Director City Manager Page 1 of 2 Background Information: Chapter 55 of the City Code establishes the regulations for the subdivision and re -subdivision of land within the City. The purpose of the regulations is to encourage the development of safe, sound and economically stable neighborhoods, create healthy living environments, provision of utilities and service to land development, prevent traffic hazards, provide safe and convenient vehicular and pedestrian traffic circulation and provide public open spaces. The Plat and Street Committee is the technical committee that reviews all tentative plats submitted for the subdivision and re -subdivision of land for compliance with the subdivision regulations. It is essential that City departments and offices be represented on the committee to perform the technical evaluation of each tentative plat. The Solid Waste Department provides critical services to all properties in the City. This Ordinance will include the Solid Waste Department on that committee currently comprised of the Department's of Public Works, Planning, Building, Police, Fire -Rescue, General Services Administration and the Office of Zoning.
