HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-00534 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT OPERATION ZERO -IMPAIRED DRIVING ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM," AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $70,000; RATIFYING THE CITY MANAGER'S EXECUTION OF THE GRANT DOCUMENTS, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") submitted a grant application to the Florida Department of Transportation for highway safety funds for the implementation of the Miami Police Department Operation ZERO -Impaired Driving Enforcement Program; and WHEREAS, the City received notification that said application was approved for funding in an amount not to exceed $70,000, for the period covering April 10, 2012 through September 30, 2012; and WHEREAS, funds from this grant will be used for the operation utilizing overtime to detect, apprehend, and arrest drivers impaired by alcohol or some other drug; and WHEREAS, there are no matching funds required for this grant; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to ratify the City Manager's execution of the grant documents, attached and incorporated, and to establish a new Special Revenue Project for the appropriation of said award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: Miami Police Department Operation ZERO -Impaired Driving Enforcement Program RESOURCES: Florida Department of Transportation $70,000 APPROPRIATIONS: Miami Police Department Operation ZERO -Impaired $70,000 Driving Enforcement Program City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 12-00534 (Version: 1) Printed On: 5/16/2012 File Number: 12-00534 Section 3. The City Manager's execution of the grant documents, in substantially the attached form, is ratified. Section 4. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute any other necessary documents in order to implement the acceptance of said grant. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS JULIE O. BRU CITY ATTORNEY - Footnotes : {1}The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
