A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
PROCUREMENT OF LEASE PURCHASING SERVICES, FROM MEARS MOTOR
LEASING, ON AN AS -NEEDED CONTRACTUAL BASIS, UNDER THE EXISTING
CITY OF CLEARWATER CONTRACT NO. REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL 32-08,
EFFECTIVE THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2013, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
CREATING A CITYWIDE AUTOMATED SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING PROGRAM
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF SOLID WASTE, IN A LINE OF CREDIT AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED $3.6 MILLION, WHICH WILL INCLUDE THE PURCHASE OF
INJECTION -MOLDED MOBILE REFUSE GARBAGE CONTAINERS, AS CITED IN
FORT LAUDERDALE CONTRACT NO. 683-10073, SUBJECT TO ANY
EXTENSIONS OR REPLACEMENT CONTRACTS BY THE CITY OF CLEARWATER.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The procurement of lease purchasing services, from Mears Motor Leasing, on an
as -needed contractual basis, under the existing City of Clearwater Contract No. Request for Proposal
32-08, effective through September 30, 2013, for the purpose of creating a Citywide Automated
Single Stream Recycling Program for the Department of Solid Waste, in a line of credit amount not to
exceed $3.6 million, which will include the purchase of injection -molded mobile refuse garbage
containers as cited in Fort Lauderdale Contract No. 683-10073, subject to any extensions or
replacement contracts by the City of Clearwater, is authorized.
Section 2.This item was presented to and approved by the City of Miami Finance Committee at
their duly noticed meeting on Monday, March 19, 2012.
Section 3. In accordance with Article 19 (Layoff and Recall) of the current AFSCME Local 871
agreement, no employees will lose employment as a result of the conversion to automated single
stream recycling.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}
Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
