HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hau 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-00510 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), DECLARING NO OBJECTION AND SUPPORTING THE CODESIGNATION BY THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE, PURSUANT TO HOUSE BILL 7039, DESIGNATING SOUTHWEST 22ND STREET FROM SOUTHWEST 24TH AVENUE TO SOUTHWEST 27TH AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "MIAMI MEDICAL TEAM WAY," SOUTHWEST 27TH AVENUE FROM SOUTHWEST 8TH TO SOUTHWEST 13TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "REVEREND MAX SALVADOR AVENUE," WEST FLAGLER STREET FROM SOUTHWEST 39TH AVENUE TO NORTHWEST 37TH AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "ALEIDA LEAL WAY," BRIDGE NO. 870002 ON SOUTH BISCAYNE BOULEVARD FROM NORTHEAST 77TH STREET AND NORTHEAST 78TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "MRS. ANN CARLTON BRIDGE;" FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO TRANSMITA COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, DISTRICT SIX, FOR SIGNS INSTALLATION WITHIN THE NEWLY DESIGNATED ROADWAYS AND BRIDGE. WHEREAS, House Bill 7039, adopted by the Florida Legislature, designated state transportation facilities ("roadways and bridges") that are located within the City of Miami ("City") at Southwest 22nd Street from Southwest 24th Avenue to Southwest 27th Avenue, Miami, Florida, as "Miami Medical Team Way," Southwest 27th Avenue from Southwest 8th to Street 13th Street, Miami, Florida, as "Reverend Max Salvador Avenue," West Flagler Street from Southwest 39th Avenue to Northwest 37th Avenue, Miami, Florida, as "Aleida Leal Way," Bridge No. 870002 on South Biscayne Boulevard from Northeast 77th Street to Northeast 78th Street, Miami, Florida," as "Mrs. Ann Carlton Bridge," and WHEREAS, Florida Statute 334.071, entitled "Legislative designation of transportation facilities," states that erection of markers shall be contingent upon the appropriate city or county commission passing a resolution in support of the particular honorary designation; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the request made by the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") for honorary designation of roads and bridges located in the City, the Miami City Commission has no objections and supports House Bill 7039; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission declares no objection and supports the codesignation by the Florida Legislature, pursuant to House Bill 7039, designating Southwest 22nd Street from City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 12-00510 (Version: 1) Printed On: 4/30/2012 File Number: 12-00510 Southwest 24th Avenue to Southwest 27th Avenue, Miami, Florida, as "Miami Medical Team Way," Southwest 27th Avenue from Southwest 8th to Street 13th Street, Miami, Florida, as "Reverend Max Salvador Avenue," West Flagler Street from Southwest 39th Avenue to Northwest 37th Avenue, Miami, Florida, as "Aleida Leal Way," Bridge No. 870002 on South Biscayne Boulevard from Northeast 77th Street to Northeast 78th Street, Miami, Florida," as "Mrs. Ann Carlton Bridge." Section 3. The City Manager is directed to instruct the Director of Public Worksto transmit a copy of this Resolution to FDOT, District Six, for signs installation within the newly designated roadways and bridge. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNES' JULIE O. BRU CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
