TRANSFER OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI, CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM Purpose of Item: AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS ("CDBG") IN THE AMOUNT OF $500,000 FROM THE DISTRICT 4 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT RESERVE ACCOUNT; ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI, CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM OFFICE ("CIP") FOR STREET IMPROVEMENTS IN THE WEST FLAGER AREA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR SAID PURPOSE. Director City Manager Paae 1 of 1 AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM CONTINUED Background Information: Pursuant to Resolution No. 11-0119, adopted March 24, 2011, the Miami City Commission approved the allocation of $848,935 to the District 4 Economic Development Reserve Account. CIP is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of all construction related capital projects in the City of Miami, and for the financial management of all capital funds. The streets in the West Flagler area of District 4 is to replace portions of the roads on Southwest 4th Street to Southwest 8th Street, Southwest 32nd Avenue to Southwest 27th Avenue which are deteriorated and/or defective and need rehabilitation which will include resurfacing, drainage improvements, sidewalk, curb and landscape enhancements. The West Flagler area qualifies as a low-income community and the street improvement qualifies for CDBG funding as improvement to public facilities. The Administration recommends the allocation of CDBG funds in the amount of $500,000 from the District 4 Economic Development Reserve Account to CIP for public facilities and improvement activities for street improvements in the West Flagler area.
