A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DESIGNATE AS A PLAY STREET,
PURSUANT TO SECTION 35-5 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA,
AS AMENDED, THE PORTION OF NORTHEAST 10TH AVENUE LOCATED
BETWEEN NORTHEAST LITTLE RIVER DRIVE AND THE LITTLE RIVER, MIAMI,
FLORIDA; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TRANSFER ALL
CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE, AND UPKEEP OBLIGATIONS OF SAID PLAY
STREET TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION.
WHEREAS, a disused portion of a street -end in the Shorecrest neighborhood of the City of Miami,
Florida ("City"), was brought to the attention of the City; and
WHEREAS, said street -end, abutting the Little River, would be an excellent pocket park because
of its scenic waterfront beauty; and
WHEREAS, it furthers the health, safety, welfare, and quality of life of the residents of the City to
have additional access to the water; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager finds that the public safety and convenience are served by
establishment of this area a play street and enclosing the roadway would help protect the public
safety and convenience; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the general welfare of
the City and its inhabitants to designate said street as a play street, closed to vehicular traffic;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to designate as a play street, pursuant to Section
35-5 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, the portion of Northeast 10th Avenue
located between Northeast Little River Drive and the Little River, Miami, Florida.
Section 3. The City Manager is further directed to transfer all construction, maintenance, and
upkeep obligations of said play street to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
