Purpose of Item: AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT SIX TO THE FISCAL YEAR 2005 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ("CDBG") DISASTER RELIEF INITIATIVE ROUND I CONTRACT BETWEEN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF MIAMI. AUTHORIZING THE EXTENSION OF THE CONTRACT FROM DECEMBER 30, 2011 TO JULY 31, 2012, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING ADDITIONAL CDBG FUNDS RECEIVED UNDER THE MILITARY CONSTRUCTION APPROPRIATIONS AND EMERGENCY HURRICANE SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT, A/K/A DISASTER RECOVERY PROGRAM, FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $470,416.00, FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE TOWN PARK VILLAGE I PROJECT THAT SUFFERED HURRICANE DAMAGE, FOR SAID PURPOSE. Director City Manager (2- 009-21- teno'L, Page 1 of 2 AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM CONTINUED Background Information On March 8, 2007, the City Commission adopted Resolution 07-0131 authorizing the acceptance of Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") funds in the amount of $2 million from Miami -Dade County, for the Disaster Relief Recovery Program. This grant was made available to the State of Florida ("State") by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD"). The State allocated $16 million in CDBG funds to Miami -Dade County to be distributed within its municipalities based on need and the project. The City of Miami entered into a contract with Miami -Dade County in connection with the $2 million in CDBG funds for the Disaster Relief Initiative Program for a term of 18 months commencing January 1, 2007 and ending June 30, 2008. On May 30, 2007, the contract was amended to extend the expiration date from June 30, 2008 to December 31, 2008. On May 14, 2009, the City Commission adopted Resolution 09-0216 authorizing the City Manager to execute amendment two to the contract. This amendment extended the contract from June 30, 2008 to December 31, 2009. On February 25, 2010, the City Commission adopted Resolution 10-0086 authorizing the City Manager to execute amendment three to the contract. This amendment extended the contract from December 31, 2009 to June 30, 2010. On December 16, 2010, the City Commission adopted Resolution 10-0537 authorizing the City Manager to execute amendment four to the contract. This amendment extended the contract from June 30, 2010 to June 30, 2011. On November 30, 2011, amendment five of the contract was executed to extend the expiration date from June 30, 2011 to December 31, 2011. The administration recommends the approval of the extension of the contract from December 31, 2011 to July 31, 2012 and the acceptance of the additional $470,416 for the rehabilitation of the Town Park Village I Project.
