Thompson References: Agenda for April 12, 2012 City Clerk Enclosures: List of members, Certification of Results, Memo from Executive Secretary Subject to the approval of the City Commission, the Civil Service Board was created to adopt, amend and enforce a code of rules and regulations which shall have the force and effect of law, providing for appointment and employment in all positions in the classified service, based on merit, efficiency, character, and industry; and to make investigations concerning the enforcement and effect of this article and of the rules adopted; and shall make an annual report to the Commission. The official results of the City of Miami Civil Service Board Employee Election held on Thursday, March 1 and Friday, March 2, 2012 are as follows: Seat No. 1 Votes % Seat No. 2 Votes % Anna P. Foster -McKnight 59 4.98 Christine S. Gomez 463 39.51 Sean Moy 583 49.24 Lillie Harris 341 29.10 Rosemary Olivera 45 3.80 Jesus Sancho 63 5.38 Qiana Sanders -Bell 76 6.42 Shellande "Shay" Tropnas 305 26.02 Erol Stewart 421 35.56 In the race for Seat 1, no candidate received a majority of votes cast, and therefore a Runoff election was required to determine who would be elected to Seat 1. Sean Mov and Erol Stewart, having received the greatest number of votes cast in the Civil Service Board Election, were placed on the ballot at the Runoff Election scheduled for Thursday, March 15 and Friday, March 16, 2012. In the race for Seat 2, no candidate received a majority of votes cast, and therefore a Runoff election was required to determine who would be elected to Seat 2. Christine S. Gomez and Lillie Harris, having received the greatest number of votes cast in the Civil Service Board Election, were placed on the ballot at the Runoff Election scheduled for Thursday, March 15 and Friday, March 16, 2012. The official results of the City of Miami Civil Service Board Employee Runoff Election held on Thursday, March 15 and Friday, March 16, 2012 are as follows. Seat No. 1 Votes % Seat No. 2 Votes % Sean Moy 818 65.49 Christine S. Gomez 615 50.74 Erol Stewart 431 34.51 Lillie Harris 597 49.26 In the race for Seat 1, Sean Moy received more than 50 percent plus one of all votes cast and is hereby declared to have been elected to Civil Service Board Elected Seat 1. In the race for Seat 2, Christine S. Gomez received more than 50 percent plus one of all votes cast and is hereby declared to have been elected to the Civil Service Board Elected Seat 2. The Commission -at -large is requested to confirm the results of the 2012 Civil Service Board Employee Election. The term of the two elected members will begin on April 27, 2012, and end on April 26, 2014. Based upon the attached memo by Tishria Mindingall, Executive Secretary, Civil Service Board, Commission -at -Large has three (3) appointments for seats currently held by: 1. Miguel De La 0, incumbent whose term expires on May 10, 2012. 2. Joseph Kaplan, incumbent whose term expires on May 10, 2012. 3. Gerald Silverman, incumbent whose term expires on May 10, 2012. The term of appointed members will begin on May 11, 2012 and end on May 10, 2014. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum to the Agenda Office, we are requesting that this issue be placed on the April 12, 2012, Commission agenda.
