A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ACCEPTING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $354,614, CONSISTING
OF A GRANT AWARD FROM THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF
CULTURAL AFFAIRS, FOR THE CARIBBEAN MARKETPLACE PROJECT,
B-30671; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CULTURAL
FACILITIES GRANT AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM,
AND ALL OTHER NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE
CITY ATTORNEY, IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF AND
COMPLIANCE WITH SAID GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") received a grant from the Miami -Dade County Department of
Cultural Affairs for the Caribbean Marketplace Project, B-30671 ("Project"), in an amount not to exceed
$354,614; and
WHEREAS, the Project scope of work consists of selective demolition and complete interior
rehabilitation of the existing building to incorporate a new administrative office, a gift shop, a beverage
services area, storage spaces and restrooms; and
WHEREAS, the work also includes Americans with Disabilities Act modifications, building envelope
insulation, partitions and contextual architectural features, in addition to new fire safety and electrical
systems; and
WHEREAS, grant funds are to be appropriated by separate resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Funds, in an amount not to exceed $354,614, consisting of a grant award from the
Miami -Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, for the Project, are accepted, and are to be
appropriated by separate Resolution.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute a Cultural Facilities Grant Agreement, in
substantially the attached form, and all other necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, in order to implement the acceptance of and compliance with said grant award.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
