HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-12-0135City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-12-0135 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-00270 Final Action Date: 4/12/2012 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S) ADDING THE AGENCIES OF THE BROWARD COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND THE PALM BEACH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, AS PARTICIPATING AGENCIES IN THE MIAMI URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE ("UASI") GRANT PROGRAM FISCAL YEAR 2010, PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 11-0478, ADOPTED NOVEMBER 17, 2011; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE MEMORANDA OF AGREEMENTS, IN SUBSTANTIALLY ATTACHED FORM, WITH THE PARTIES' RESPONSIBILITIES IN CONNECTION WITH THE DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT OF THE UASI PROJECT ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE. WHEREAS, the United States Department of Homeland Security ("USDHS") is authorized by the Emergency Wartime Supplemental Appropriations Act 2003, to provide funds to states for subsequent distribution to selected urban areas to address the unique equipment, training, planning, exercise and operational needs for large urban areas, and to assist them in building an enhanced and sustainable capacity to prevent, respond to, and recover from threats or acts of terrorism; and WHEREAS, the USDHS, through the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management, has sub -granted the Urban Area Security Initiative ("UASI") Grant Program Fiscal Year 2010 to the City of Miami ("City"), in the amount of $10,708,461, accepted pursuant to Resolution No. 11-0478, adopted November 17, 2011; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the UASI Grant Program Fiscal Year 2010, the participating agencies of the Broward County Sheriff's Office ("BSO"), and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office ("PBCSO"), will be added and will uphold the Memoranda of Agreements ("MOA's"), in substantially the attached form, setting forth the parties' responsibilities in connection with the development and support of the UASI Project administered by the City's Department of Fire -Rescue; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The agencies of the BSO and the PBCSO are added as participating agencies in the Miami UASI Grant Program Fiscal Year 2010, pursuant to Resolution No. 11-0478, adopted November 17, 2011. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute MOA's, in substantially the attached form, setting forth the parties' responsibilities in connection with the development and support of the UASI Project administered by the City's Department of Fire -Rescue. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
