HomeMy WebLinkAboutAnnual Review & Evaluation 2010-2011Do The Right Thing CALEA Standard 44.1.1 and 44.1.3 Program Name Do The Right Thing Awards Program Number of articpants 5,000 students over nine -month school year 300 attendees Annual Review and Evaluation School Year 2010 - 2011 Goals and objectives Accomplishments Recommendations/Feedback To continue to publicly recognize and reward Miami - Dade County students for positive behavior, accomplishments and good deeds Track effectiveness of Awards Program through Parent/Student surveys Publicize students and Miami Police Department in a positive light Host an annual awards banquet to celebrate student and program accomplishments Recognized approximately 5,000 students Survey conducted and tallied Ran two Miami Herald Neighbors and El Nuevo Herald ads. Produced radio PSA's in English and Spanish which aired on WAXY 790 AM and MEGA 94.9. Initiated Facebook group page and secured over 250 members Obtained record breaking crowd with over 300 guests in attendance Continue as is Survey results of effectiveness attached (based on 2009-2010 school year) Pursue celebrity partnership, initiate Facebook contest to increase membership Continue as is Do The Right Thing Awards Program continued Nine elementary students (one for each month of school year) Nine middle/high school students (one for each month of school year) Honor top elementary winners with a trip to Disney World with Miami Police Dept. Honor top middle and high students with trip to London with Miami Police Department Trip completed_ September 10-11, 2010 Trip completed - November 7-11, 2010 Continue as is Continue as is Do The Right Thing Rap It Up Contest 100 elementary and middle school entries Crime prevention contest to promote anti -crime message to MDCPS students Auditions and final competition held, 1st, 2nd prizes, semifinalist prizes awarded Continue as is Do The Right Thing "Back Without A Bang!" Youth Rally Against Violence 700 City of Miami 5th grade students To raise awareness of school violence and take proactive measure to reduce Students recited a pledge against violence and over 1,000 signatures were obtained on a 4 ft. X 8 ft. pledge card sent to Florida's Governor Expand to 1,000 students for 2011- 2012 school year Do The Right Thing Stress Management Seminar 250 City of Miami 3`d 5th 9th 10th, 11th and 12th grade students To assist students in reducing stress prior to FCAT Participants indicated through survey that stress reduction measures were achieved Very positive. Continue as is Do The Right Thing Police Memorial Scholarship To assist students in reducing stress prior to FCAT To be awarded Summer 2011
