A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE
LEASE AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, BETWEEN
THE CITY OF MIAMI AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FOR THE NORTH DISTRICT
POLICE STATION, LOCATED AT 1000 NORTHWEST 62ND STREET, MIAMI,
FLORIDA 33127, TO COMPLY WITH THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AGENCY'S ("FEMA") GRANT CONDITIONS OF EXECUTING A
MODEL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF CONDITIONS FOR MITIGATION OF
PROPERTY IN A SPECIAL FLOOD HAZARD AREA WITH FEMA GRANT FUNDS,
IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM.
WHEREAS, on September 18, 1985, the City of Miami ("City") entered into an agreement with
Miami -Dade County ("County") for leasing a parcel of land to build the North District Police Station,
located at 1000 Northwest 62nd Street, Miami, Florida ("North Dade Police Station"); and
WHEREAS, the use of the North Dade Police Station, now a demised premise, allows for the City
to make any improvements as long as it will be for the good and welfare of the neighborhood and the
City residents; and
WHEREAS, the City utilized a Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") grant to provide
upgraded hurricane protection on all windows and at the entrances to the North District Police Station;
and
WHEREAS, as part of the grant conditions, FEMA requires that the owner of the property sign a
"Model Acknowledgement of Conditions For Mitigation of Property in a Special Flood Hazard Area with
FEMA Grant Funds;" and
WHEREAS, this acknowledgement stipulates that the structure will not be demolished and that the
property will be maintained under flood plain management criteria established in the Code of Federal
Regulations; and
WHEREAS, due to this property being owned by the County, but leased to the City, the County
desires to incorporate the FEMA requirements in the existing lease through an amendment; and
WHEREAS, the County administration will move forward with taking this matter before the County
Commission for approval after the Miami City Commission approves the amendment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.

Section 2. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute an Amendment to the Lease Agreement,
in substantially the attached form, between the City and the County, for the North District Police
Station, to comply with FEMA's grant conditions of executing a Model Acknowledgement of Conditions
For Mitigation of Property in a Special Flood Hazard Area With FEMA Grant Funds, document, in
substantially the attached form.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1}The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days form the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
