Purpose of Item:
Ordinance amending Chapter 29 of the City Code entitled "Landfills and Waterfront Improvements"
to assign adniinistrative responsibility for bulkheads, seawalls, piers, docks, groins, marine railways
and other similar private structures, including the issuance and regulation of building permits, to the
I City of Miami Building Department.
Background Information:
Waterfront improvements consist of structures installed primarily on private property to enhance and
protect adjacent property and buildings. These structures require construction plan review and "
permits for structural, electric and plumbing and inspections by inspectors certified in those
disciplines. These services are routinely administered by the City's Building Department in the
standard building permit process. The purpose of this Ordinance is to assign the administrative
responsibility for the waterfront improvements and related permit and inspection fees to the City's
Building Department.
This itern passed on first reading on February 23, 2012.
