The Virginia Key Beach Park Trust was created to preserve the Virginia Key Beach Park in
cooperation with the Depaittnent of Parks and Recreation and other City depaittnents in a manner
consistent with the environmental health, public use, historical importance of the Park and the
aspirations of the African American community and shall propose policy, planning, and design to
ensure maximum community utilization, enjoyment, and maintenance of the Park as an open green
space compatible with its historical and recreational characteristics and accessible to the public.
Ordinance 13065, adopted on May 14, 2009, which amended Chapter 38, Article 6 of the City Code,
authorized the waiver of the eight -consecutive year term limitation to allow members of the Virginia
Key Beach Park Trust to be reconsidered annually for an additional one-year term by a unanimous
vote of the members of the City Commission.
Eight (8) appointments are required at this time.
• Mayor Tomas Regalado has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:
1. Gene Tinnie, whose term expires on February 11, 2012, has served since February 8,
2001 and would require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5ths) vote of the Commission.
• Chairman Francis Suarez has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: t
1. Vacant.
• Vice Chairman Marc David Sarnoff has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:*
1. Mark Walters, whose term expires on February 11, 2012, has served since February 8,
2001 and would require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5ths) vote of the Commission.
• Commissioner Wifredo (Willy) Gort has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:
1. Maud Newbold, whose term expires on March 11, 2012, has served since February 8,
2001 and would require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5ths) vote of the Commission.
• Commissioner Carollo has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by: §
1. Gustavo Godoy, whose term expired on December 16, 2011.

2001 and would require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5ths) vote of the Commission.
NOTE: Awaiting memo of proffered name(s) from the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust.
For your convenience, we are including a copy of the membership of the Trust. By copy of this
memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the February 9, 2012,
Commission agenda.
