The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding
whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance.
Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be
residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the
board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a
subcontractor, and a realtor.
Three (3) appointments are needed at this time:
• Commission At -Large has three (3) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Charles McEwan, incumbent, whose term expires on April 1, 2012, has served as a
member since February 10, 2000, and would require a term waiver by a unanimous
(5/5ths) vote of the Commission.
2. Marta L. Zayas, incumbent, Alternate member, whose term expired on September
10, 2011, has exceeded the number of absences (9 in 2011), and would require a
4/5ths waiver of attendance.
3. Vacant, Alternate member. t
For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy
of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on March 8, 2012,
Commission agenda.
