HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-00095 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "EMS COUNTY GRANT #C0013 AWARD FISCAL YEAR 2010-2011 (SECOND AND FINAL PAYMENT)", IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $29,988, CONSISTING OF A GRANT APPORTIONED BY MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BUREAU OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ("EMS") PROGRAM ENTITLED "FLORIDA EMS GRANT PROGRAM COUNTIES;" AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING/AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $29,988, from the State of Florida, Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services ("EMS"), pursuant to Chapter 401, Part II, Florida Statutes, to provide grant funds to Boards of County Commissioners to improve and expand pre -hospital emergency medical services; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the members of the Miami -Dade Board of County Commissioners that the Fiscal Year 2010-2011 funding for Miami -Dade County, from the State of Florida, Department of Health, Bureau of EMS Program entitled "Florida EMS Grant Program for the Counties," in the amount of $29,988, be apportioned and passed through the City's Department of Fire -Rescue for Fiscal Year 2010-2011 forthe improvement, expansion and continuation of its pre -hospital EMS projects; and WHEREAS, said grant was divided in two (2) payments, and the first payment was approved by the City Commission pursuant to Resolution No. 11-0268, adopted June 23, 2011; and WHEREAS, the City Department of Fire -Rescue's work plan to implement the following projects: EMS Equipment, to provide materials, supplies and services, and computer hardware, software and supplies, which will enhance the service capabilities of the EMS System and improve the level of service provided to the residents of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: - Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the Letter of Understanding/Agreement, in substantially the attached form, and all necessary documents in order to implement the acceptance of said grant. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS— JULIE O. BRU CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
