Purpose of Item: Emergency Ordinance Discussion Item Law Department Matter ID No. It is respectfully recommended that the Miami City Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing a contribution to People United to Lead the Struggle for Equality, Inc. (P.U.L.S.E.) "HOTSPOT" campaign and allocate funds in an amount not to exceed $25,000. Funding is available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Award No. 1169, Project Number 19-690001, and Account Code No. 12500.191602.883000.0000. Background Information: The Miami Police Department supports the efforts of those organizations that assist the department in its fight against criminal activity. P.U.L.S.E. has established an anonymous system for reporting criminal activities, as part of their crime prevention initiative. The requested funding would be utilized to defray the costs and expenses of organizing and administering the campaign. During the initial six (6) months of the campaign, P.U.L.S.E. agrees to provide anti -crime services to the City of Miami. It is decided that the City of Miami will allocate a total of $25,000 to the organization, but will divide said funding in parts. A preliminary allocation of $15,000 will be given to P.U.L.S.E. while the remaining amount of $10,000 will be allocated at the end of the six month period, providing that the organization has shown progress with their venture, as described in the attached Exhibit "A."
