Subject: Invitation for Bid (IFB) No. 273272 First Responder Respirators and Accessories
Purpose of Item:
The nature of this item is to establish a term contract for the provision of First Responder Respirators
and Accessories with Fisher Scientific Company, LLC., the lowest responsive and responsible bidder
for Group 1, for an initial contract period of two (2) years with options to renew for two (2) additional
one (1) year periods, for the Department of Police. Allocating funds from the various sources of funds
from the user department, subject to availability of funds and budgetary approval at time of need.
Background Information:
The Department of Police has a need to establish a term contract for the procurement of First
Responder Respirators and Accessories. With this purpose, on September 28, 2011, the Purchasing
Department issued an Invitation for Bid (IFB No. 273272). As required by the Procurement Code, the
IFB was advertised and issued online Bids were due and five (5) bids were received on October 19,
2011. The Department of Purchasing is recommending award to Fisher Scientific Company, LLC., the
lowest responsive and responsible bidder, for Group 1 only, per bid specifications. Based on spend
data from the previous bid contract (IFB 05-06-068), the Department of Police has spent on average
about $60,000 annually on the purchase of respirators and accessories.
