HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislation (Version 2)City of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 11-01168 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION REQUIRING ACCOMMODATIONS (CHANGING STATIONS) TO BE INSTALLED AS EXPEDITIOUSLY AS POSSIBLE FOR MEN AND WOMEN TO CHANGE THEIR CHILDREN'S DIAPER IN PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE CITY OF MIAMI BATHROOM FACILITIES. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") understands the importance of families and acknowledges the need to provide reasonable accommodations for parents to change the diapers of their infants and toddlers; and • WHEREAS, the Miami -Dade Board of County Commissioners has created Section 8A-114 requiring every new establishment or use to provide baby diaper -changing accommodations; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide the most comfortable and family friendly environment possible in all existing and new City facilities by making reasonable accommodations for diaper -changing; and WHEREAS, each City facility should be required to provide accommodations for diaper -changing that is accessible to both women and men; and WHEREAS, such accommodations may include, but not limited to, stations, decks and tables in women's and men's restrooms; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The. Miami City Commission requires accommodations for men and women to change their children's diaper in publicly accessible City of Miami bathroom facilities as expeditiously as possible. Section 3.
