Purpose of Item:
A Resolution of the Miami City Conunission, with attachment(s), authorizing the City Manager to
execute a lease agreement, in substantially the attached form, by and between the City of Miami,
Florida and the School Board of Miami -Dade County, Florida, for the City's use of approximately
7,734 square feet of office space at the Lindsey Hopkins Technical Center located at.750 N.W. 20th
Street, Miami, Florida, at an annual rent of One and No/100 Dollars ($1.00) plus building operating
expenses, for the operation of a workforce development office pursuant to that certain grant to the
City from the South Florida Workforce Investment Board.
Background Information:
The City is the recipient of a grant from South Florida Workforce to operate a workforce development
office. The City has identified the Lindsey Hopkins Technical Center, operated by the School Board
of Miami -Dade County, Florida ("School Board"), as an ideal location. The School Board agrees to
lease a portion of the Tecluiical Center for the City's use at an annual rent of $1.00 plus building
operating costs for the operation of the workforce development office during those times when the
Technical Center would otherwise be closed, at a daily rate of $1,3G8.40 (estimated at approx.
$21,552) for the initial term.
