NATURE OF WORK:
This isanexecutive level position responsible for planning, organizing, and carrying out the responsibilities ufthe internal audit
function aospecified inthe City Charter and Code, and as directed bythe City Commission, Ahigh degree oforiginality,
resourcefulness, initiative, ingenuity, judgment, integrity, technical (computer) competence, as well as managerial knowledge
and excellent oral/written communication skills are required &oeffexctkelymaUonn\heUutieomquiredofthapoaihon,Thn
position's incumbent reports directly to the City Commission.
The duties of the position icld but are not limited to: establishing policies for all audit functions, developing comprehensive
annual and long-term audit plans for evaluating administration's performance of its assigned responsibilities, as well as
evaluating the effectiveness of systems of internal control, as it relates to economic and efficient operation of the City,
safeguarding of City assets, reliability of financial records, and compliance with City charter, code, statutes, policies,
procedures, and otherguidelines; reviewing and supervising all audit field work to ersure suitable quality levels; appraising the
adequacy of actions taken by operating departments to correct reported deficiencies; ensuring adherence to professional
standard of conduct and objectivity in performing audits: including effectively interfacingwith all levels of monagement,
commission, the audit committee, while maintaining credibility, objectivity and independence.
Periodically City Commission and the Audit Advisory Committee with reports on audit coverage and result's of
audit activities, Coordinates all external audits of the City, develops the department's budget, attends meetings to present
departmental budget, activity reports, and plans for future cxowzuoc*vmaa.mres.mo/nta/no.va/ns.anoeva/uates
auditing staff necessary to accomplish the department's mission, goals and objectives in an effective and efficient manner.
MINIMUM RGOUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or closely related field, from an accredited college or
minimum of 10 years of experience, which demonstrates professional competence and thorough knowledge of the generally
accepted government accountinglauditing standards, are required. Technical proficiency in advanced auditing techniques and
methodology, as well as extensive knowledge of government accounting and auditing is also required. A masters degree is
university and a State of Florida, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license pursuant to Chapter 473, Florida Statutes, plus a
