Thompson References: March 11, 2010 Agenda City Clerk Enclosures: Applications; List of members The Overtown Advisory Board/Overtown Community Oversight Board was created via Ordinance 12858 amending Article XI of Chapter 2 of the City Code to encourage and support housing, job creation, economic and business development, educational opportunities, and historic and cultural preservation. The Board shall provide written recommendations to the City Commission regarding activities, developments, and improvements within or substantially impacting the residents of the Overtown Area. The Overtown Advisory Board/Overtown Community Oversight Board, in addition to five (5) elected members, shall consist of six (6) members who shall be appointed. In accordance with Ordinance 12858, the District 5 City Commissioner shall appoint five (5) qualified members and the Mayor shall appoint one (1) qualified member to the Board. Additionally, the District 5 Commissioner shall appoint one (1) qualified youth board member, and the Overtown Advisory Board/Overtown Community Oversight Board shall appoint one (1) qualified youth board member. An advertisement was placed in a newspaper of general circulation to solicit qualified prospective appointees. We have received the applications from the following: See attached. 1. Deandra Williams (Youth applicant) Seven (7) appointments are needed at this time to fill existing vacancies for unexpired terms. Pursuant to Sec. 2-1052 (f) Vacancies in the membership of the Overtown Community Oversight Board shall be filled by the District 5 City Commissioner in the manner set forth in subsection (d) for appointed members. • Commissioner Richard Dunn II has seven (7) nominations for seats currently held by: 1 Vacancy. 2. By copy of this memorandum to the Agenda Office, we are requesting that this issue be placed on the March 11, 2010 Commission Agenda.
