Thompson City Clerk January 14, 2010 Subject: OAB/Overtown Community Oversight Board References: February 11, 2010 Agenda Enclosures: Applications; List of members The Overtown Advisory Board/Overtown Community Oversight Board was created via Ordinance 12858 amending Article XI of Chapter 2 of the City Code to encourage and support housing, job creation, economic and business development, educational opportunities, and historic and cultural preservation. The Board shall provide written recommendations to the City Commission regarding activities, developments, and improvements within or substantially impacting the residents of the Overtown Area. The Overtown Advisory Board/Overtown Community Oversight Board, in addition to five (5) elected members, shall consist of six (6) members who shall be appointed. In accordance with Ordinance 12858, the District 5 City Commissioner shall appoint five (5) qualified members and the Mayor shall appoint one (1) qualified member to the Board. Additionally, the District 5 Commissioner shall appoint one (1) qualified youth board member, and the Overtown Advisory Board/Overtown Community Oversight Board shall appoint one (1) qualified youth board member. An ad was placed in a newspaper of general circulation to solicit qualified prospective appointees. See attached applications. One (1) appointment is needed at this time. • Mayor Tomas Regalado has one (1) nomination for a seat:* 1. Vacancy (seat formerly held by Lynnette Gonzalez, who exceeded the number of allowed absences — 7 absences in 2009). For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board and the list of application received. By copy of this memorandum to the Agenda Office, we are requesting that this issue be placed on the February 11, 2010 Commission Agenda. * This item was continued from December 10, 2009 and January 14, 2010 meeting.
