Submittal-Iraida Mendez-Correspondence from residents against the zoning code change
February 24, 2010 Board of Commissioners of the City of Miami City Hall Miami, Florida RE: 08-0108851 u & 08-01085zc 711 S.W. 39th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33134 Honorable Commissioners: We the undersigned are writing and signing this letter to request from you to please deny the zoning code change requested by Data Pro. We ask that you consider the neighbors of this area of the city of Miami, which has been "Single Family Residential" for over 60 years, and now Data Pro, which is located in the business section of Coral Gables, behind the house located at 711 S.W. 39 Avenue, Miami, is requesting a variance to the zoning code to "Restricted Commercial" to establish a parking lot for their company, which is not even in the city of Miami. That would create horrific intrusion to our neighborhood, which is already completely saturated with the traffic situation. the location in question is 711 S.W. 39th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33134: Across the street on the west side you have Navarro Pharmacy, their parking lot with their in and out traffic, and the vendors unloading trucks with merchandise in the middle of the street, that in itself creates a traffic chaos, also you have the commercial site at 3875-3885 S.W. 8th Street, which has an annexed building facing 39th Avenue, the address of this other parking lot is 3885 S.W. 8 Street, however, the entrance is on 39th Avenue. So now you are looking at the intersection of Ponce de Leon and S.W. 8th Street, which it in itself is also horrific, constant bottle "neck, terrible, cars, trucks blocking intersection, and to avoid the traffic along S.W. 8th Street, cars and trucks turn right unto 39th Ave, which by the way there are NO THRU TRUCKS signs, which if you observe this section, it is completely disregarded. Needless to say this traffic spills into our streets, (enclosing a picture of a car wrecking two cars parked in their front yard, had there been any children or anyone for that matter, outside they might have been killed, that is the reason we have been requesting a circle to slow down, and deter the traffic for over five years to no avail. However our requests have fallen on deaf ears. This circle will slow down the speed of all that traffic that diverts into our street, i.e., 6`hs`.ret, 5mscreet and 5`h Terr., to evade the bottlenecks on 8th street, creating havoc into our neighborhood. This is totally unjustified, and unacceptable, and would certainly burden us. We as neighbors of this section, most of us over forty years, and elderly homeowners, request from you to please deny this zoning code change, since it would certainly implicate excessive traffic volume, and unsafe, as if we did not have enough, and actually it would be even more dangerous than what it is presently. We maintain our area very nicely and find it imfair to us that after all these years, the situation would become intolerable, worse than what it is at the present and has been for a long time. We trust the new commissioners and our new Mayor Regalado, who in fact was our commissioner, District 4, and has always been very helpful and listened to our problems; to please consider our petition and the situation this zoning code change would impose on us. We thank you for your assistance, and we trust that you will do the right thing on behalf of our neighborhood and protection of us, the citizens/taxpayers. Look at all the empty condos w/their retail offices completely empty. SUBMITTED INTO THE PUBLIC RECORD FOR ITEMf'z v ON z z_-o .
