Thompson, CMC City Clerk Subject: Commissioners as Members of Boards Reference December 17, 2009 Agenda Enclosure, History List The following boards have Commissioners serving as members whose terms expired on May 31, 2009: • Bayfront Park Management Trust: Commissioner Sarnoff serves as Chairperson. • Commercial Solid Waste Management Advisory Committee: Commissioner District 5 served as Chairperson. • Downtown Development Authority: Commissioner District 3 served as Chairperson. • Midtown Community Redevelopment Agency: Commissioner Sarnoff serves as Chairperson and Commissioner District 1 served as Vice Chairperson. Commissioner District 3, Commissioner District 5, and Commissioner District 4 served as members. • Southeast Overtown/Park West/Omni Community Redevelopment Agency: Commissioner District 5 served as Chairperson and Commissioner Sarnoff serves as Vice Chairperson. Commissioner District 3, Commissioner District 1, and Commissioner District 4 served as members. • Mayor's International Council: Commissioner District 1 served as Vice Chairperson. • Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority: Commissioner District 4 served as Vice Chairperson. • Miami -Dade County League of Cities: Commissioner District 4 served as a member. • Florida League of Cities: Commissioner Sarnoff serves as a member. • Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau: Commissioner Sarnoff serves as the City representative. • Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO): Commissioner Sarnoff serves as the City representative. • Miami River Commission: Commissioner District 3 served as a member. • Tourism Development Council (TDC): Commissioner District 5 served as a member. Please refer to the attached which reflects the history of Commissioners serving on boards. It additionally includes certain boards wherein certain elected officials serve in an ex-officio capacity and are therefore not considered for replacement. Pursuant to City Code Section 2-35, the Mayor and each Commissioner shall be considered for appointment to an authority, board or committee before the Mayor or any one Commissioner shall have served a consecutive term; however, there shall be no prohibition against the Mayor or any Commissioner from being reappointed to serve consecutive terms.
