The District 1 Housing Advisory Board, in cooperation with the City Manager and City departments, is responsible for the
advice, oversight, and facilitation of the City's revitalization efforts for the redevelopment of the District 1 Community
Revitalization District ("District").
The District 1 Housing Advisory Board ("Advisory Board"), per Ordinance 13012 adopted on July 24, 2008, shall advise the
City Commission on revitalization activities; establish policy for the revitalization efforts in the District; advocate the
purposes of the Advisory Board; assist and advise the City Commission, the City Manager, the Housing and Commercial
Loan Committee, the City departments and other public officials and entities concerning the revitalization initiatives in the
District; promote, oversee, and assist in the redevelopment activities and develop increased public awareness and interest;
establish programs and activities eligible for funding under the HOME Investment Partnerships Program for the District;
solicit grants, contributions and financial and non -financial support from individuals, private business interests, the general
public, governmental entities, corporations, and organizations, foundations and other philanthropic entities to further the
purposes of the Advisory Board; and implement full and active participation and cooperation with the public and private
entities in furtherance of the Advisory Board' s purposes to oversee and facilitate the revitalization of the District to improve
the quality of life for residents of the neighborhood. The Advisory Board shall consist of five (5) members, one (1) of whom
shall be a public advocate and shall be a full-time homeowner residing in City Commission District 1. Four (4) members
shall be individuals from professional disciplines who broadly reflect the diversity of the community and share technical,
professional expertise or experiential knowledge and interest in a number of areas such as residential construction;
development; architecture and engineering; planning, zoning and land use law; economic development; historic
preservation and restoration; administration; fiscal management, and community involvement. Terms are for four (4) years.
The Commissioner of District 1 shall nominate individuals for membership, and shall be ratified by the City Commission.
Five (5) appointments are required at this time:

5. Vacancy (public advocate; full-time homeowner in District 1).
By copy of this memorandum to the Agenda Office, we are requesting that this issue be placed on the September 10,
2009 Commission agenda. This matter was deferred from the October 16, 2008, November 13, 2008, December 11,
2008, January 15, 2009, February 12, 2009, March 12, 2009, April 2, 2009, May 14, 2009, June 11, 2009, and
July 9, 2009 Commission meetings.
