Reimbursements

This is in response to the Commission's directive regarding an update on the status of hurricane
expenditures reimbursement reported in the September 30, 2007, Management Letter (IC2007-
07).
As of November 24, 2008, the $9.5 million reported in the Management Letter remains
unreimbursed.
The City's Emergency Management Division continues to be in close communication with the
grantors regarding these reimbursements and has reported that Florida Highway Administration
(FHWA) has recently requested additional information from the City, specifically copies of
tickets, invoices, timesheets, proof of payment and disposal information. The Department of
Solid Waste has been gathering all the requested data and anticipates final submission on or
before December 5, 2008. This additional information is required by FHWA before they will
process any payment to the City.
Once payments are received from FHWA, the balance will be presented to FEMA for
reimbursement. This reimbursement will occur at `Close Out' and 'Final Inspection'.
I will continue to regularly update the Commission on our progress and the reimbursement
status of these receivables during the Quarterly Update of Non -Reimbursable Grant
Expenditures Discussion Item on future Commission agendas.
