Subject: Accept the City Mpnaggr and the Virginia Key Beach Tryst's ("Trust") recommendation to enter into
negotiations with BEA International with Huff+Gooden Architects, LLC to provide professional design services
for a Museum at Virginia Key Beach Park, Project B-30508.
Purpose of Item:
To accept the recommendation of the City Manager and the Trust to approve the findings of the Evaluation
Committee ("Committee"), pursuant to RFQ 05-06-081, and to authorize the City Manager and the Trust to
negotiate an Agreement with BEA International with Huff+Gooden Architects, LLC, the highest ranked firm.
Background Information:
The City issued RFQ 05-06-081 for the provision of professional design services for a museum at Virginia Key
Beach Park. Seven (7) submittals were received in response to the RFQ and 4 fums were invited to give a
presentation. Following the presentations, the Committee ranked the firms in the following order: (1) BEA
International with Huff+Gooden Architects, LLC ("BEA"), (2) Freelon/Judson, (3) Olson Sandberg Kundig
Allen Architects, and (4) E. Verner Johnson and Associates. The Committee selected BEA as the most qualified
firm and recommended entering into negotiations with them; however in the event negotiations fail, the
Committee recommends negotiations with the second -ranked firm and the third -ranked firm respectively, until an
Agreement is reached. Upon completion of negotiations the CIT Department and the Trust will return to the City
Commission to request approval for the City Manager and the Trust to execute the agreement.
