Subject: Personal Appearance for the fair of the Cuban Municipalities from April 3rd through April 6th
2008
Purpose of Item:
This is a personal appearance by Mr. Ivan Hernandez -Diaz, Executive Director of the Cuban
Municipalities fair, to request a waiver of the two (2) event per year per site limitation on temporary
special events for the Flagler Dog Track property located at 450 NW 37th Avenue, pursuant to the
City of Miami zoning ordinance, as amended, Section 906.6 (c).
Approval of this request requires a 4/5 affirmative vote by the City Commission and will subsequently
require other applicable administrative approvals and permits.
Background Information:
It is recommended that the subject request be approved. The Cuban Municipalities Fair has been
successfully held for twenty one (21) years. It is long standing tradition in the City of Miami and as
such merits favorable consideration by the City Commission. The site where it is proposed to be held
is well suited at the intersection of two arterials (NW 7th Street and NW 37 th Avenue); it is of ample
size and can well accommodate the proposed event. This event has been held at this site in previous
years.
