Purpose of Item: Waiving the City of Miami fees associated with an Orange Bowl Stadium Memorabilia Kick -Off event, Orange Bowl Stadium sale extravaganza and auction to be held during the months of January and February at the Orange Bowl Stadium. Background Information: The primary tenant of the Orange Bowl Stadium (Stadium), the University of Miami, decided to no longer utilize the stadium for football games following the 2007 season. Without a primary tenant the facility would become a liability and therefore a determination was made to demolish the site as soon as possible and prepare the site for redevelopment. Recognizing the historic significance of the property and the broad community interest in "owning a piece of the Stadium," it was determined that the City should produce an event to celebrate the site's history and further offer for sale Stadium assets in a very public, celebratory manner. In order to offset the cost of demolition and to offer historic memorabilia for sale to the community all saleable items should be removed from the stadium prior to demolition. On December 13, 2007, the City Commission authorized the execution of an agreement ("Agreement") with Dream Products, Inc., d/b/a Mounted Memories related to the sale of Orange Bowl historic memorabilia and assets. The Agreement provides for Mounted Memories to conduct certain activities relating to the sale of memorabilia and salvage items. The City will share in the proceeds from the events and the sale of memorabilia and salvage items. Budget Impact Analysis NO Is this item related to revenue? NO Is this item an expenditure?
