HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutionCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 07-01421 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO POST RULES FOR PARKS WHERE DOGS ARE PERMITTED, AS STATED HEREIN. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is directed to post the following rules for parks where dogs are permitted: All dogs must be properly licensed and vaccinated. Dogs must have a collar and be held by a leash while entering or exiting the Dog Park. If anyone asks that a dog be leashed while in the park, the dog shall be leashed or removed. Owners must be with dogs at all times and may bring a maximum of 3 dogs per visit. Dogs in heat are not permitted inside the Dog Park. Puppies less than 4 months old are prohibited. Aggressive dogs are prohibited in the Dog Park. The City of Miami shall not be responsible for harm to others created by owners who fail to properly supervise their dogs. If a dog displays aggressive, mounting or harmful behavior, owners must leash the dog and leave the Dog Park. Use caution when using toys and other objects while playing with any dog. Dominance issues may arise, possibly causing the dog to become unusually aggressive. Owners are required to quickly stop inappropriate digging and assure proper removal of dog excrement. Dog waste must be disposed of immediately and completely. Equipment is for use by dogs only. Do not leave the water running. Ask the owner's permission before approaching a dog. All children must be monitored closely and accompanied by a guardian at all times. Bike riding, skateboarding, rollerblading and skating are prohibited. No glass receptacles or alcohol permitted at any time. Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
