HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 07-00241 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT ("PSA") DATED JANUARY 21, 2005, WITH METRIC ENGINEERING, INC., PURSUANT TO REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS NO. 03-04-131, APPROVED BY RESOLUTION NO. 04-0792, ADOPTED DECEMBER 9, 2004, FOR THE PROVISION OF CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING OBSERVATION SERVICES ON A CONTINUING BASIS, FOR MISCELLANEOUS HORIZONTAL PROJECTS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $200,000, INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF THE PSA FROM $750,000 TO $950,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS, FOR A CONTINUATION OF CURRENT WORK, FROM THE PROJECT ENTITLED "DOWNTOWN INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT PHASES I (B-39902) AND II (B-30177)" AND FOR ONGOING WORK ASSIGNMENTS, FROM THE APPROPRIATE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AS NEEDED, SUBJECT TO BUDGETARY APPROVAL; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT NO. 1, TO THE PSA, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") and Metric Engineering, Inc. ("Consultant"), entered into a Professional Services Agreement on January 21, 2005 ("PSA"), for the provision of construction engineering observation services ("Services") on a continuing basis for miscellaneous projects, pursuant to Request for Qualifications ("RFQ") No. 03-04-131, conducted in compliance with the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended; and WHEREAS, the Department has issued three (3) work order authorizations to the Consultant, totaling $732,516, for Services associated with the Downtown Infrastructure Project Phases I (B- 39902) and II (B-30177) and the Virginia Key Road Reconstruction Project (B-30184); and WHEREAS, current projects utilizing the Consultant require additional Services, including the inspection of internally illuminated street main signs and additional pipe lining for the project entitled "Downtown Infrastructure Project Phases I (B-39902) and II (B-30177);" and WHEREAS, the current remaining contract balance of $17,484, is not sufficient to cover the anticipated costs to complete these additional services and anticipated additional projects for which Services are desired; and WHEREAS, a contract increase in an amount not to exceed $200,000, is required and will increase the total contract amount from $750,000 to $950,000; and WHEREAS, funds for the continuation of current work are available from the project entitled "Downtown Infrastructure Project Phases I (B-39902) and II (B-30177)" and for ongoing work assignments from the appropriate capital improvement project as needed; City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Primed On: 2/20/2007 File Number: 07-00241 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. An increase in the PSA, with the Consultant, pursuant to RFQ No, 03-04-131, approved by Resolution No. 04-0792, adopted December 9, 2004, for Services on a continuing basis, for miscellaneous horizontal projects, in an amount not to exceed $200,000, increasing the amount of the PSA from $750,000 to $950,000, is authorized, with funds allocated for a continuation of current work, from the project entitled "Downtown Infrastructure Project Phases I (B-39902) and II (B-30177)" and for ongoing work assignments, from the appropriate capital improvement project as needed, subject to budgetary approval. Section 3, The City Manager is authorized(1) to execute Amendment No. 1, to the PSA, in substantially the attached form, for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: JORGE L. i KNANuEZ---- CITY.AT + " NEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
