Priscilla A. Thompson . City Clerk Community Beautification Project In February of 2005, The Model City Community Revitalization District Trust embarked upon a Community Beautification Project. The Model City Trust's Homeownership Zone was targeted; 54th Street to 62nd Street, 17th Avenue to 12th Avenue. Staff scoured the neighborhood in search of elderly and single parent homeowners (who lived in the house) who needed a paint job and/or landscaping. The search was narrowed down to ten (10) homes. Jasper Enterprises, Inc., who is located on 54th Street and 13th Avenue, was hired to complete the task at hand. The homes were pressure cleaned, spackled, caulked, and painted. Some of the house had wood trims replaced. Of the ten homes that were painted, seven of the homeowners were elderly and three were single parents. Thompson City Clerk Partnerships for a NEW MIAMI Model City Community Revitalization District Trust SUMMER LEADERSHIP & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT •LOYMENTPROGRAM Summer Leadership & Professional Development Employment Summer Leadership & Professional Development Employment Program This year the Model City Community Revitalization District Trust embarked upon the second annul Summer Leadership & Professional Development Employment Program. The program is geared to youth and young adults between the. ages of 16-22 that live within the Model City boundaries. This year we are pleased to have 43 interns in the program. The interns were either placed in a professional environments or career path placement. All interns were requested and have submitted an application, proper identification, utility bill (for verification of address), and waiver forms. Interns have also filled out I-9 forms and rules and regulations. Interns are placed at KDI Architecture, Miami -Dade Correctional & Rehabilitation Department, City of Miami Parks & Recreations, Economic opportunity Family Health Center, Weed and Seed, Miami -Dade Empowerment Trust, Neighbors and Neighbors, Miami -Dade Community Action Agency, Humane Society, Real Estate Resource Group, Antella's Fine Bake Goods, and the Model City Trust. All employers were asked in verbally and in writing to commit to one or more interns, which is on file. To date, all interns, as well as the Model City Trust are in compliance. This summer the Model City Trust has scheduled a series of professional development and leadership workshops. Workshops take place every Friday. Other activities are geared towards improving the speech and grammar of the interns as well as team building.
