HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.ci.miaml.fl.us File Number: 06-01112 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "FY 2006 EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM," CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, IN THE AMOUNT OF $435,731; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT AWARD AND TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $435,731, for funding various law enforcement operations in the Department of Police; and WHEREAS, said funds will be used by the Department of Police to fund initiatives including: technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support and information systems for criminal justice programs; and WHEREAS, said grant is awarded for a period of four years, beginning October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2009; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Manager to accept said grant and to establish a special revenue fund for the appropriation of said grant award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORI DA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE; lESOURCES: 4PPROPRIATION: FY 2006 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program United States, Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance Necessary expenses for the operation of the Justice Assistance Grant Program $435,731 $435,731 Section 3. The City Manager is authorized (1) to accept said grant award and to execute the City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 6/20/2006 File Number. 06-01112 necessary documents, in substantially the attached form, to implement acceptance of said grant award. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS:ti JORE• : RNANDEZ KRtA CITY • ' NEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
