HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinanceCity of Miami Legislation Ordinance City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 06-00355 Final Action Date: AN ORDINANCE OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AMENDING CHAPTER 54/ARTICLE IV/SECTION 54-124 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, ENTITLED "STREETS AND SIDEWALKS/NAMING OF STREETS AND NUMBERING OF BUILDINGS/NAMES OF AVENUES," BY CHANGING THE NAME OF SOUTHEAST 2 AVENUE BETWEEN SOUTHEAST 2 STREET AND THE MIAMI RIVER, MIAMI, FLORIDA, TO BRICKELLAVENUE; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS ORDINANCE TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED AGENCIES; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission, after careful consideration of this matter deems it advisable and in the best interest of the general welfare of the City of Miami ("City") and its inhabitants to amend the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), by changing the name of Southeast 2 Avenue between Southeast 2 Street and the Miami River, Miami, Florida, to Brickell Avenue; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Chapter 54/Article IV/Section 54-124 of the City Code, as amended, entitled "Streets and Sidewalks/Naming of Streets and Numbering of Buildings/Names of Avenues," is amended in the following particulars: {1} "Chapter 54 STREETS AND SIDEWALKS ARTICLE IV. NAMING OF STREETS AND NUMBERING OF BUILDINGS Sec. 54-124. Names of avenues. (5) The thoroughfare formerly known as Southeast 2nd Avenue between Southeast 2nd Street and City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 06-00355 (Version: 2) Printed On: 7/12/2024 File Number: 06-00355 the Miami River shall be called Brickell Avenue. *11 Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Ordinance to the United States Postal Authority, the Traffic and Transportation Section of the Miami -Dade County Public Works Department, and to the City's Department of Police, Public Works and Fire -Rescue. Section 4. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances that are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are repealed. Section 5. If any Section, part of a section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 6. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty days after final reading and adoption thereof. {2} Footnotes: {1} Words/and or figures stricken through shall be deleted. Underscored words and/or figures shall be added. The remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged. Asterisks indicate omitted and unchanged material. {2} This Ordinance shall become effective as specified herein unless vetoed by the Mayor within ten days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Ordinance, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
